Charity Gift Aid Declaration

LEBBS is 100% funded by the money-raising efforts of our volunteers and donations from the public.

Gift Aid increases the value of your donation. As a registered charity we can boost your donation by 25p for every £1 you donate. Please think about doing this simple step.

Gift Aid is reclaimed by us here at Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service from the tax you pay for the current tax year. In order to Gift Aid your donation you must complete and submit the form below:

Enter your full name here if you agree to the above

*your email details will only be used to send you a copy of the submitted form.

Please notify Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service by email to treasurer@lebbs.org if you:

  • want to cancel this declaration
  • change your name or home address
  • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

What is Gift Aid and how does it help you to help us?

Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows registered charities to claim back the basic rate tax on donations made by taxpayers.

This means that for every £1 donated, the charity can reclaim an additional 25p from the government. Gift Aid is a vital source of income for many charities and plays a significant role in funding their activities and projects.

Here’s how Gift Aid works:

Eligibility: To qualify for Gift Aid, you the donor must be a UK taxpayer – this includes people who pay income tax or capital gains tax. Donors must also provide the charity with a Gift Aid declaration, confirming that they are eligible and giving permission for the charity to claim the tax.

Donation: When a taxpayer makes a donation to us here at LEBBS, you must confirm that they want your donation to be treated as Gift Aid. This can be done providing the necessary information to the us here at LEBBS.

Claiming the Tax: Once LEBBS has received a Gift Aid donation, we can claim back the basic rate tax on that donation from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). This tax is currently set at 20%, which means that for every £1 donated, the charity can claim an additional 25p.

Record Keeping: LEBBS are required to keep records of Gift Aid donations, including the donor’s details, the date and amount of the donation, and the Gift Aid declaration. This documentation is essential for compliance with HMRC regulations.

Higher Rate Taxpayers: If a donor is a higher rate taxpayer, they can also claim back the difference between the basic rate and the higher rate tax on their donation. This can be done through their self-assessment tax return.

Gift Aid is a straightforward and effective way for people to increase the value of their charitable donations at no additional cost to themselves. It’s a win-win for you the donor and us here at LEBBS, as it encourages more giving while providing charities with additional funds to support their charitable activities.

However, it’s essential to ensure that the donor is eligible for Gift Aid, and the necessary records and declarations are kept for compliance with tax regulations.
